Marconi Celebrates Chloe’s Olympic Gold

Rio Olympic pentathlon gold medal winner Chloe Esposito and her brother Max were honoured by Club Marconi at a reception on 29 September.

Many members of the Marconi Fencing Academy were there to congratulate Chloe and Max on their achievements.

Chloe set a new Olympic record in winning her gold and Max finished 7th (the same as Chloe at the London Olympics).

NSWFA President Kaye Mahoney, AFF Director Vince Elias and NSW Head Coach Antonio Signorello attended to convey the best wishes of NSW and Australian fencing.

The President of Club Marconi, Vince Foti, announced a new Club Marconi-Chloe Esposito Spor ts Scholarship to be awarded to promising Marconi athletes.

Chloe presented Club Marconi with one of the epees she used in Rio, complete with Olympic weapons control marks.

In interviews with two-time Olympian Jane Flemming, Chloe and Max spoke of the dedication needed to succeed at the Olympics and of the support from their family – their father and coach Daniel (himself an Olympic pentathlete), their mother Suzanne, their sister Emily (herself a fencer) and their grandparents.

Both Chloe and Max will be back in training soon for the Tokyo Olympics.
