A guard of honour for Frances Stone whose life was celebrated at a service at St Andrews Congregational Church in Balmain today (12 May).
Frances was a Life Member of NSWFA and for many years led the Rozelle Fencers club.
Fencers and friends spoke affectionately and emotionally about Frances; her strength of character, her wide knowledge of history and culture, her love for literature and music, her quick wit and, of course, her dedication to fencing and the Rozelle Fencers club.
She was a great believer in the value of suburban fencing clubs and introduced many children to our sport.
The service was conducted by her longstanding friend, Venerable Peter Macleod Miller.
