Nominations open for Australian Schools Senior Championships

Nominations are now open for NSW school fencers wishing to compete in the Australian Schools Senior Individual and Teams Championships in Sydney on the weekend of 28-29 July.

The categories are girls and boy’s foil, epee and sabre. The Senior championships are open to any secondary school fencer who is either Registered or Affiliated with NSWFA. Any fencer who is competing in the NSW School Age Fencing Program will be eligible.

The Intermediate Individual and Team Championships are scheduled for the weekend of 25-26 August. Fencers up to and including the third year of secondary school can enter.

Entering the championships is a three step process. The first step is to express your interest by nominating. This should be done by 14 June. The second step is the selection by NSWFA of nominated fencers. This will depend on the number of nominations received from NSW and other States. The third step, once your selection is confirmed by NSWFA, is to register for the competition via the AFF website. It is planned that registration will open on 24 June and close on 8 July.

You can enter more than one weapon category.

At schools which offer fencing as an organised sport, the school will make the initial nominations for individuals and teams.

Fencers who go to schools that don’t have organised fencing will need to nominate themselves. For these fencers the initial nomination process is simple: just email [email protected] and give your name, school and the event(s) you want to enter. Please check that your school is happy for you to represent the school.

Please note: Schools and individual fencers should get their nomination to secretary@nswfencing by 14 June.

You can enter more than one weapon event.

Individual entry per competition: $95
Second and third individual entries per competition: $67
Team entry per competition: $130
These fees are set by the AFF and cover the cost of the venue, tournament officials, referees, medals and other costs.
