Coming Up: 2019 Australian Senior School Championships

The 2019 Australian Senior School Championships will be held at the NSW Fencing Centre on the weekend of 24 -25 August.
The Senior Schools individual competition is open to selected secondary school age fencers in NSW who competed in the qualifying event – the Roberta Nutt Shield competition as part of the NSW School Age Fencing Program.

Fencers who achieved a top 4 placing in the Roberta Nutt will be automatically selected if available. Other places will be filled depending on the number of expressions of interest from NSW and other States. While we expect to be able to accept all individual fencers who want to compete, it may be necessary to limit entry numbers for some popular events. In this case, fencers will be selected based on their placing in the Roberta Nutt.

Fencers from schools where fencing is an organised sport should check first with the teacher in charge of fencing. Then, to register your interest in participating, please send an email to [email protected] with your name, school and weapon before Saturday 10 August. You will then be given a link to register for the competition.
Fencers who attend schools where fencing is not an organised sport should contact [email protected] directly.

Fencers entering the Australian Schools Championships must be currently either Junior Affiliated or Junior Registered members of the NSW Fencing Association. All fencers who participated in the 2019 NSW School Age Fencing Program already meet this requirement.

Individual registrations close on Saturday 17 August.

For the team events, each school will decide what team entries will be made and who will be on each team. Composite teams with fencers from different schools are not permitted.
The Australian Individual  Intermediate School Championships will be held at the NSW Fencing Centre on the weekend of 14-15  September. The entry process for this competition will be advised closer to the event.

The Intermediate Schools individual competition is open to fencers up to and including the third year of secondary school (Year 9 in NSW). Fencers who attend primary schools may enter this competition with the approval of NSWFA.
Please see the attached Information Sheet which gives further details on the Australian Schools Championships, including equipment requirements and entry fees.
