2026_04: Level 1 Sabre Coach - Practical Assessment

NSW Fencing is pleased to announce this practical assessment for accreditation as a Level 1 Sabre coach. 

The assessment will be conducted by Maestro Angelo Santangelo.

Candidates for the assessment must have previoulsy undertaken the relevant online learning coach development modules (listed below).

Successful candidates will be awarded a Level 1 coaching technical qualification, which is recognised by the AFF.

Candidates should bring their fencing gear (and for those competing at AFC#4, weapons check opens at 5 pm).

NOTE: This practical assessment is limited to 16 attendees.

To pursue the Level 1 coaching accreditation, you will need to:

• be aged 16 years and over
• have completed the other pre-requisites (see list below) and uploaded the required documents to your JustFence account
• register (below) to be assessed for competence
• on succesful practical assessment, take out a NSWFA 2026 Coach membership

Once you have succesfuly completed the practical assessment and taken out a NSWFA 2026 Coach membership, NSWFA will upload your technical qualification to your JustFence account. Provided you have also uploaded all other documents required by AFF you will then be listed on the AFF website as an accredited Level 1 Sabre coach.

• SIA Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction
• SIA National Integrity Framework
• SIA Antidoping Fundamentals
• SIA Annual Update (2026)
• ASC Community Coaching Essentials Skills

Other Pre-requisite Proof-of-Learning/Certification:

• First Aid course (one course from HTLAID010 through to HTLAID015)
• Working with Children permit, if you are 18 yrs old or older
• Signed AFF Child Protection Conditions Agreement
