NSW Fencing, is pleased to collaborate with the 2026 Sydney International Fencing Camp, to offer a referee development opportunity.  This is a high quality event, with a wholistic approach, led by Maestro Enrico Di Ciolo (Italian Olympic Coach) and Maestra Virginia Di Franco. The camp is convened by Bill Ronald OAM, OLY, and hosted by Sydney University Sport. The camp represents an excellent opportunity for referees and aspiring referees to undertake professional development in time for the new year.  The referee development will be led by by NSWFA referee Tom Smart, with international input from FIS National Referee, Giovanni Leccese. NSW Fencing values the collaboration with SIFC which has made this opportunity available to support and strengthen referee development in NSW.  –––––– To engage in the referee development opportunity, you will need to: be aged 12 years and over register for the the Sydney International Fencing Camp register (below) to be assessed for competence at the end of the camp attend all sessions of the Camp (attendance will be taken) be assessed by designated assessors at the camp If you are assessed as competent at the end of the Camp, you will be given a certificate of competence. ––––––

Following consultation with the fencing community and legal advisors, the Association’s Constitution is being updated to align with Australian Sport Governance Standards – a key step in future-proofing and strengthening our organisation. You will have received information outlining the proposed changes. This is a ranked state tournament (as per NSW Fencing Ranking policy), and is suitable for fencers who are confident competitors, and to prepare for national tournaments.
